CONCEPTS OF NATURE
Final Major Project
Inspired by nature, this project was designed for my third year university course.
The project aim was to showcase skills in avant-garde fashion by working within a creative team to produce holistic editorials designed around the theme of nature.
The project integrates creativity and freedom associated with avant-garde art, encapsulating the essence through the use of colours, adornments, unexpected placements and themes to push the boundaries of ideas and creativity, provoking emotion.
Inspired by everyday life, the concept of nature was explored through the project, ranging from the microscopic textures of fungi to the striking detail of moths and the iridescent metallic colours of beetles.
BEAUTY
Fascinating shapes, patterns, colours, and textures were purposely drawn from nature. As an avant-garde makeup artist, I was influenced by the unconventional side of nature, focusing less on the attractive and glamorous side and more to the dark and unexpected side of it.
Abstract patterns, distinctive textures, and vibrant colours from nature were used to create makeup looks that represented mankind and nature coexisting and sustaining one another’s lives.
POWER
Morphing the body from its human form to otherworldly, techniques such as precision work, construction of hair adornments and head dresses, braiding/plaiting techniques and refining hair styling techniques and textures were employed.

DIVERSITY
As nature and the world around us is so broad, the creativity and freedom of the project was infinite, allowing for unique makeup looks which demonstrate originality and authenticity.
